Alleyways of theOld City The Eastern fringe is the oldest part of the City with a labyrinth of historic ally-ways that snake their way between towering office blocks where Londonfinancial institutions occupy the wealthiest square mile on earth. The walk delves into those shadowy passages and takes you along streets that have changed little in over a hundred years. It is an area that Dickens knew well, and he set many of his works around here, most notably using it as the location for Scrooges’ counting house in A Christmas Carol.
