Jazz on a Wednesday night downstairs at Ryan's bar in funky Stoke Newington.
Jazz the way it used to be from the vinyl collection of retro dj Jeniffer Jackson. Relax on the comfy sofas and enjoy the sounds of some of the greatest names in jazz, you can even dance if you want to: Jimmy Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Jon Hendricks, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra and more. There’s red hot Afro mambo and Latin, be-bop and soul, and blues inspired sixties jazz too.
The Jazz Department captures that laid back beatnik vibe of the 50's 60's basement jazz clubs of Soho, Paris, LA and New York. Music from a time when jazz WAS cool.
Our “Ladies in Jazz” season continues with live music from Italian/American roots, jazz and blues vocalist Jessica De Giudici. An award winner, majestic and elegant with a commanding stage presence, Jessica De Giudici has performed in many jazz and blues venues in Europe and here in London, the versatile guitarist Nick Ruddock makes this a winning combination and a must for fans of real music.
You don’t have to be an expert or a purist to love good music. See you in The Jazz Department open for business on the first Wednesday of the month a great way to spend your Wednesday night.
